When a herd of elephants realized a new baby was being moved into their enclosure, they ran across the field to welcome him in a touching moment.This is the heartwarming moment a herd of elephants ran to welcome an orphaned baby elephant into the group.
Young elephant Dok Geaw was saved by volunteers and taken to an elephant rescue centre after his sick mother died when he was just four-months-old.
He was fed milk and raised by humans, but volunteers said he soon needed “a new family” so was taken to Thailand’s Elephant Nature Park.
But in an emotional moment which was caught on camera, the little elephant is welcomed by his new friendly herd who run across the paddock to greet him.
Founder of Save Elephant Foundation, Sangduen “Lek” Chailert, said: “When he arrived he tried to communicate with the herd and some of them came to talk to him.
“The herd ran to see him.”
Debbie Charlesworth, a volunteer at the elephant park, said: “It was just absolutely beautiful to watch these magnificent beasts just come flying across to see this new creature they’ve got here.”
