A 3-year-old boy named Casey was playing in the yard with a few friends just the other day — and when it was time to come inside, he was absolutely nowhere to be found.
His great-grandmother searched everywhere — and she finally called the police. In the evening it got much colder and the rescuers began to convince the volunteers to stop searching for a while for their own safety. But by the evening the rescuers heard a baby crying. They followed the cries deeper into the woods, past a freezing pond, and found little Casey Hathaway huddled up in some briars.
“His core temperature was very low, his fingers and all had a bit of frostbite,” Sheriff Hughes said.
Casey was rushed to the local hospital where he could begin to regain his strength and reunite with his family.
Later, he told the police that he a friend helped him. How unexpected to hear that it was a black bear.
The baby told his mother the same story about the bear, and then he told it to his aunt as well. The aunt is convinced that the baby is not cheating and that the bear was sent by the Lord so that her nephew would survive.
